Our scanners are tapped personally by our PVP specialists. There is no application process although buying a vigilante hunting license and being a reliable source of pings have worked well for us. Showing that you are a scanner day-in and day-out is what we look for.
The active PVP roster will vote on potential new members. The voting process is weighted on play time, what ships you can fly, Zkill history, and dedication to the game. While most hunters also scan, we like to keep a healthy ratio of dedicated scanners/explorers to hunters.
Most of our scanners are solo exploration players who spot targets while flying through J-space. By pinging content, you keep 100% of the loot that is recovered.
Finding content in J-space is like finding a needle in a haystack. Killers get access to content more readily through the support of the scanning division.
Ultimately it boils down to content generation. By keeping minimal contact between scanners, we try to maximize the content we shoot. One of the scouts found another scout's corp member ratting? Yeah...we're blowing that up. Sorry.
Escrow is kept as a security measure. While the PVP team does a excellent job doing intel, we require escrow to deter our scanners from setting our hunters up for an ambush. If we are able to make any link to your account(s), the escrow of the suspected character will be distributed to the whole team. This applies to hunters as well.
While not perfect, keeping something in escrow is better than nothing.
